Last week, we had Sempai Terrence and Instructor Elissa show you a mirror image on how to perform the Iron Horse Kata correctly and how to use the Kata for self-defence. This week, Sempai Terrence and Instructor Justin will also demonstrate the use of the Iron Horse Kata in real life situations but with a few revisions.
Hi guys, Sempai Terrence from WAIMA Myaree again, week two of my Iron Horse Kata application. With just a bit of revisions, instructor Justin and myself, we’re going to go through Iron Horse one more time.
Attention stance, prepare. Now, hunch in, Iron Horse by numbers, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Great, guys. So, a quick revision from last week, what we started off with, a side arm grab. Go. Instructor Justin grabs on, I’m dropping in to my horse stance, number two, number three, and number four. Cool. From here, Justin’s going to throw a straight punch towards me here, and all I’m going to do is I’m going to step past blocking away. I’m stepping in, striking on the elbow for my Iron Horse number five.
As I do it, I’m going to imagine I’m putting on a seat belt and using my hips as a bit of a twist. From here I’m going to reach out on top for number six, going to drive my elbow up into the face, reaching across. I’m just going to move his hands out of the way here, with number seven, striking the groin, pushing him away. If he hasn’t had enough yet, he’s going to come back in, I’m going to punch him straight in the solar plexus.
Cool. So, we’ll see that again. From here, the right-hand punch. I’m going to step out of the way, blocking, got to catch his arm here, moving, stepping forward, striking. Over the top here, I like to drop into my horse stance nice and deep. So I can get a nice drive up around his neck, grabbing him on the shoulder for my number seven. Pushing his hands out of the way, I can drive my knee in, pushing, and he’s going to come back at me. I’m going to drop down a little bit lower into my dragon stance, aiming straight for that solar plexus.
Fantastic. We’ll have another video for you next week in using some street applications for Iron Horse.
