Many motivation courses tackle goal setting in a slogan-like fashion. They believe that yelling sound-bites of the “can do – will do” variety while jumping up in the air and punching the sky, is all that’s required.
Well, it isn’t – and here’s why.
There are all sorts of social pressures that can inhibit us from achieving. Perhaps as kids we were told not be too arrogant, overly confident or boastful. Perhaps we were encouraged not to be the teacher’s pet or to try too hard and thereby embarrass our mates in school.
In our adult lives, the pressures pile up even higher. There are plenty of people out there who will subtly but intentionally discourage you from achieving for all sorts of reasons, including fear for their own position.
For all these reasons and many like them, we see lots of people who are selling themselves short in terms of the goals they set for their lives.
True, some sense must apply. If you’re very short and suddenly set yourself a goal of becoming an international basketball star, well, sorry but you “aint gonna make it”!
Leaving aside such extreme and rare cases though, you will be amazed at how you can achieve what you’d previously seen as ‘unachievable’ with a little help. That’s where we come in.
You see we know that it’s possible to set yourself almost near-impossible goals and still to get there. What will you need to do so? Typically:
- Help in goal setting techniques
- Strength and conditioning (to your character)
- Confidence building
- Help in failure handling techniques (many very successful people fail regularly – they differ from others in that they know how to handle it, grow and move onwards/upwards rather than becoming derailed).
That’s just a brief overview. Why not contact us sooner rather than later to find out more about our goal setting training?
